5 Cakes That Are So Good They Don't Need Frosting + You CAME! 🥳

hi there Reader

about last week

When I started publishing recipes on my little blog Sweetest Menu 12 years ago, I would have never dreamed that I would have the chance to meet some of my readers in REAL LIFE.

But last Thursday I brought 80+ cookies with me and arrived at Robinson's Bookshop and YOU showed up.

Together we made my famous Brownie Cookies (which you can also find on page 30 of Something Sweet). Then Daen Lia hosted a wonderful Q&A and we chatted about cookbooks, baking, recipes and life.

But my favourite part of the night was when I had the chance to meet you! We laughed, ate cookies and talked about the endless joy of baking. For me, it was bliss and I can't wait to do it again soon!

It's hard to be a first-time author - you have to build a lot of trust with your publisher, book stores and the general public too. But your support means the world. And makes me keep going!

So thank you, thank you, thank you.

P.S. I'm currently hosting a giveaway with Roses Only on Instagram. Check out this post for your chance to enter. Australia only this time!

5 cakes that are so good they don't need frosting ❤️

Chocolate Bread

I know we call this one bread but let's be honest - This is a quick mix chocolate cake baked in a loaf pan. And it's absolutely perfect just as it is.

Almond Raspberry Cake

The softest cake I've ever had. This buttery cake is filled with red raspberries and flaked almonds and needs only a dusting of icing sugar to be complete.

Pound Cake

One of the most basic cakes out there, but make no mistake, this dense Pound Cake is pure perfection. Enjoy it fresh with cream and berries.

Easy Fruit Cake

Forget everything you know about fruit cakes. This one is easier, faster and uses less ingredients. But it's moist, tender and rich in flavour. No frosting needed.

Lemon Drizzle Cake

This soft and moist cake is surprisingly quick and easy to make. Drizzled with a two-ingredient lemon syrup, it’s the perfect no-fuss loaf cake.

what you've been baking

"Made this for my littlest favourite people (niece and nephew) and they were a hit. To my surprise so was the couple left over with my favourite big person (husband) who ate all the leftovers and said they were delicious. As he doesn’t eat sweets that often I know this recipe is a winner." - Zoe

hi there Reader our new baking community is HERE ❤️ Every single day, readers email me or send me messages on Instagram and ask which recipe of mine they should try, or what brand of chocolate I use, or how they should store their leftovers. You send me photos of your bakes, cakes you made for birthdays, or cookies your made with their kids. And honestly, chatting with you is one of the best parts of my job. But DMs can get lost, and there's only one me. So I'm so excited to launch a new...

hi there Reader a new video for you ❤️ Whenever I develop a recipe, I feel like I have so much to say! I try to cram as much information as I can into the recipe post, but sometimes I just want to bake with you. So I've decided to do more long form videos where we can bake the recipe together and really get into the nitty gritty. You can see exactly how I'm making something, the techniques, the timings and we can chat along the way. So after filming how-to videos for my Jam Drop Biscuits and...

hi there Reader from my kitchen In between sniffles and coughs in my house, I've been enjoying some quick and easy bakes this week. I made another Whole Orange Cake - we cannot get enough of this one. And I love that it's made in the blender. The batter comes together in about 15 minutes. I also made another batch of my Cornflake Crunch, my Perfect Chocolate Slice and the Shortbread Cookies on page 42 of my new cookbook Something Sweet. In other exciting news, I'm also working on a new...
